Jenny Holzer disbursed her Truisms in the most expedient methods to ensure as wide a reach as possible. These postcard sized Truisms are easy to hand off discretely, or mail inside an opaque envelope. I acquired a series of Truisms during the course of the 2016 presidential election, because Holzer's texts felt timeless and prophetic. Both Men Don't Protect You Anymore and Words Tend to be Inadequate helped me digest the madness of the election of a man who blatantly degraded women, the disabled community, and people from other lands and religions. I found and find solace in Holzer's Truisms because they make me feel connected to other human beings who have experienced the cyclical traumas of history.
